Kibera and beyond
Pawmoja works hand in paw with Nairobi's communities to make animal welfare practical, fair, and sustainable — for people and animals alike.
Pawmoja — from pamoja, Kiswahili for "together" — is a Kibera-based animal welfare organisation. Our primary work is in the community: supporting local caregivers, coordinating vet care, and helping communities look after their animals safely and humanely. We also rescue and rehome animals in need, because sometimes an animal needs more than what can be provided where they are.
We support local caregivers to feed, shelter, and care for vulnerable animals where they live.
Coordinating vet care to reduce suffering and protect public health.
When animals are sick or orphaned, we step in — fostering and rehoming when it's right for the animal.
Teaching children kindness, sharing knowledge, and co-creating solutions with communities.
Whether you have a spare room, a few hours a week, or just a generous heart — there's a place for you at Pawmoja.

We’re still small, still volunteer-run, and still 100% powered by donations and partnerships. Your contributions help cover food, vet care, shelter, and rescue costs. From life-saving surgeries to food and vaccinations, your support keeps our animals and communities healthy and safe.
